Shia LaBeouf's Mardi Gras bar crawl has reached a sobering conclusion.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the *Transformers* actor was arrested in New Orleans after an alleged physical altercation outside of a Royal Street business. Authorities were called to the scene just after midnight, when two men alleged that they were assaulted by a 39-year-old later identified as LaBeouf, the New Orleans Police Department confirmed to **.

The authorities said in their statement to EW that** **LaBeouf was allegedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive, causing a staff member to eject the actor from the establishment. Per the police, one of the men reported that once outside, LaBeouf struck them several times with his closed fists. They claimed to law enforcement that the actor then left the scene but soon returned and was allegedly behaving more aggressively.

LaBeouf's behavior prompted multiple onlookers to get involved in an attempt to hold him down, police said. The police statement claims that upon being released, LaBeouf struck the same man with his fists before allegedly punching another man in the nose.

Police report that LaBeouf was again held down until authorities arrived on the scene. The actor was subsequently transported to a hospital and upon being discharged, was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery. His injuries were not specified.

Representatives for LaBeouf did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

TMZ has obtained footage from the aftermath of the altercation, in which a shirtless LaBeouf is being treated by paramedics.

One day prior to his arrest, a report from *The Hollywood Reporter *saw employees at several New Orleans businesses claim that LaBeouf had been showing up at various drinking establishments in the city's Uptown neighborhood, on an apparent bar crawl that began on Thursday. While one bouncer claimed LaBeouf was "inebriated" and "somewhat belligerent," other employees said they experienced no incident or disruption from his presence.

In recent years, LaBeouf has professed to be sober. The actor — who last year settled a sexual assault and battery lawsuit filed against him by former girlfriend FKA Twigs, after denying the allegations against him — has spoken openly about dealing with PTSD and alcoholism. LaBeouf has blamed his alcoholism for his allegedly abusive behavior towards the singer and stated that being forced to reckon with his actions "saved my f‑‑‑ing life."

Prior to the lawsuit, LaBeouf was court-ordered to attend rehab following a 2017 arrest in Georgia for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
